Nestled in the vibrant heart of Toronto at 101 Portland Street, Gusto 101 delivers an unforgettable Italian dining experience that perfectly balances rustic tradition with modern flair. This upscale Italian restaurant’s menu is a celebration of Italy’s diverse flavors, drawing you in with both classic and innovative dishes crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients.
The culinary journey here begins with enticing appetizers like the crispy Calamari Fritti, which diners rave about as some of the best in town, and the tender Polipo (octopus) — a standout favorite for its masterful balance of spice and texture. The house-made Focaccia Bread, light and fluffy with just the right crust, pairs wonderfully across the table, setting a warm, inviting tone for the meal.
When it comes to pasta, Gusto 101 truly shines. Whether it’s the luxuriously creamy Truffle Mushroom Pasta or the robust, smoky notes in the Rigatoni All'Amatriciana made with guanciale and pecorino romano, each bite is bursting with depth and passion. Other guests have praised the Mafalde Ai Funghi and the indulgent Cavatelli Alla Vodka for their harmonious blend of rich sauces and perfectly al dente pasta. These dishes capture the essence of Italy’s hearty yet elegant pasta traditions, elevated with a contemporary twist.
For those seeking a lighter yet equally vibrant option, the salads such as the Cavolo Nero kale salad with toasted pine nuts and zante currants, offer fresh, bright notes that cleanse and complement the richer plates. Meanwhile, the pizza selections—among them the iconic Margherita Pizza and the boldly spiced Diavola Pizza—are crafted with care, featuring fresh toppings on crisp and flavorful crusts.
The atmosphere at Gusto 101 enhances the exceptional menu. Stylish and contemporary, the space is both cozy and lively, creating an inviting backdrop for intimate dinners or celebratory nights out. Guests often reflect on the warm hospitality and attentive service that make every visit feel special, even when the restaurant buzzes with energy on game nights or quiet weekday evenings.
Rounding out the meal is their signature Tiramisu Cake and delicate Cannoli, desserts that linger on the palate with their perfect balance of sweetness and texture—an indulgent finale to a superb meal.
In short, Gusto 101 is not just a place to eat—it’s a destination where each dish is a lovingly crafted story and every visit feels like a celebration of Italian culture. Whether you’re craving the earthiness of mushrooms, the richness of house-made sauces, or the playful complexity of their cocktails paired with House Wine, Gusto 101 invites you to savor every moment and flavor.

The food here is amazing!! Everything I had just kept getting better and better as they came out. The homemade focaccia was perfect, the calamari was probably the best I've had in a while, the sweet potatoes were a dream and with that brown butter (yum!), the octopus was my absolute favorite!!! If you like a little spice, don't miss out on this. And the pasta was superb I loved that lots of items were homemade. The house wine was very good and a dollar an oz made it even better lol I will be back to try more off that menu! If you're looking for a small cozy setting, this is it. Make a reservation because it gets pretty busy. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bartenders kept us entertained with great conversations. Highly recommend Gusto 101!! I hear they are expanding too :)
Came here late at night after the Raptors game, just before closing, and the staff were kind enough to accommodate us. Service was okay, they got everything done, but it didn’t feel particularly attentive. The food, however, was great. The meatballs were honestly some of the best I’ve had, and the lasagna was really solid as well. I tried the mushroom pasta since the staff mentioned it was one of their best dishes, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The location is super convenient, right in a busy spot in downtown Toronto near the Entertainment District. Overall, good experience and I’ll definitely be back for those meatballs.
I absolutely love Gusto 101! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish I’ve tried has been delicious — especially the pasta and their signature tiramisu. The restaurant has such a warm and lively atmosphere, and the service is always excellent. The staff are friendly, attentive, and make you feel truly welcome. I also love the modern design and cozy vibe, whether you sit inside or on the patio. It’s the perfect spot for both casual dinners and special occasions. Overall, Gusto 101 is one of the best restaurants in Toronto, and I can’t wait to come back again!
Gusto 101 has a super stylish interior and a fantastic happy hour deal. The food, especially the delicious beef carpaccio, superb truffle pasta, and the best focaccia I've ever had, was outstanding. The only minor flaw was that service felt slow despite the large number of available staff on a quiet weekday evening.
Foo was delicious, great sport for lunch/dinner, we stopped by early afternoon and they weren’t too busy. Service was excellent and they were kind enough to explain any dietary restrictions (vegetarian/pescatarian) for each dish. We ordered 1 app: Calamari Fritti, 2 pasta: Mafalde ai funghi and calamarata con gamberi, and 1 tiramisu for dessert plus the bread for the table - all to share between two people and we were pretty full. Highly recommend the mafalde and tiramisu.
I visited Gusto 101 for dinner because I was craving their mushroom pasta, and it was delicious as always! We also tried the pepperoni pizza and focaccia, which were both really good. The food and service were great, as usual. However, I wasn’t a fan of our seating. Our table was a bit unstable and slanted, and we were positioned right behind the hostess station, which felt cramped with the person behind us having limited space to move. Being next to the window in winter also made it quite cold, and our food cooled down faster than expected.
